Am fwy o wybodaeth darllenwch ein\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ldw.org.uk\/cy\/welsh-language-statement\/\">Datganiad Iaith Gymraeg<\/a>.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"http:\/\/www.senedd.assembly.wales\/ieListDocuments.aspx?MId=5426&amp;EVT=101&amp;DT=A\"> debate<\/a> follows a\u00a0a last-ditch appeal by disability campaigner\u00a0Nathan Lee Davies to the First Minister Mark Drakeford, urging the Welsh Government to abandon plans to close the independent living grant scheme in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Lee Davies, who has led the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nathanleedavies.wordpress.com\/save-wilg-campaign\/\">Save WILG Campaign<\/a>, told the First Minister\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nathanleedavies.wordpress.com\/2019\/01\/28\/open-letter-to-first-minister-mark-drakeford-savewilg\/\">in an open letter last week<\/a>\u00a0that closing WILG would leave disabled people with high support needs \u201cat the mercy of cash-strapped Local Authorities\u00a0who seem intent on cutting vital support packages across the board with no guarantee that further cuts will not follow\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>There is just two months left until the planned closure of WILG, which was set up as an interim scheme following the UK government\u2019s decision to close the Independent Living Fund in June 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Drakeford promised during his campaign to lead Welsh Labour that if an independent evaluation of the WILG closure showed the new system is not working as well as the old one \u201cthen I would be prepared to reverse it because this is money intended for a very specific number of people for a very specific purpose\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Welsh Independent Living Grant is due to end on 31 March 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mae Plaid Cymru wedi trefnu dadl y Cynulliad ar gyfer dydd Mercher 13 Chwefror i alw ar Lywodraeth Cymru i ddal gafael llawn ar Grant Byw\u2019n Annibynnol Cymru (WILG).
