Disability Hate Crime Action Group Cymru

Learning Disability Wales are active members of the Disability Hate Crime Action Group Cymru.

The group is an informal partnership of organisations who wish to raise awareness of disability hate crime and harassment with disabled people, the general public and the media. Through our work we aim to reduce disability hate crime, and increase reporting and convictions.

The group involves national disabled people's organisations, the police, Crown Prosecution Service, Welsh Government and Victim Support.

The Disability Hate Crime Action Group worked closely with Welsh Government to produce their Framework for Action on Hate Crime. 'Tackling Hate Crimes and Incidents: A Framework for Action' was issued for consultation on 11 July 2013.

'Dealing with Hate Crime', the Easy Read version of the Framework for Action was produced by Learning Disability Wales' Easy Read service.

More information on the Disability Hate Crime Action Group Cymru can be found at Disability Wales' website. There is also a Facebook group - to be invited to join the Facebook group email karen.warner@ldw.org.uk.

Disability Wales also have an excellent resource on ways to report hate crime.
