We have today published our manifesto ahead of the Senedd election taking place on 7 May 2026.
Our manifesto highlights the key issues that we believe need to be addressed by the next Welsh Parliament to improve the lives of people with a learning disability and their families/carers across Wales. We are urging all political parties and independent candidates to commit to the asks in both our manifesto and the All Wales People First manifesto.
There are several big changes coming to the Senedd this year:
- 96 Members: From the election in May 2026, the Senedd will have 96 Members instead of 60.
- New voting system: Everyone aged 16 and over will now have 1 vote, to choose a political party or independent candidate.
- New constituencies: Wales will have 16 new constituencies. Each constituency will elect 6 Members. You can find your new constituency here.
- New rules: Anyone standing for election must live in Wales.
- More frequent elections: Senedd elections will take place every 4 years.
Our Ready to Vote project is working with people with a learning disability across Wales to raise awareness of these changes and why it’s important to vote in elections. You can find out more about the Ready to Vote project here.
Our key manifesto asks
We want to work with the 96 new Members of the Senedd over the next 4 years and beyond to make Wales the best place for people with a learning disability to live, learn, love and work.
The 8 key asks in our manifesto are:
- Promote the importance of accessible information
- Support the Stolen Lives campaign
- Close the disability employment gap
- Reduce health inequalities
- Support parents with a learning disability
- Reduce loneliness and social isolation
- Prioritise adequate funding for the learning disability sector
- Support the All Wales People First Manifesto.
You can read our full manifesto here (PDF).
We have also produced an Easy Read manifesto that you can read here (PDF).
We hope that you will support our manifesto and ask your local candidates for their commitment to the asks within the manifesto if they are elected to the next Senedd in May.
