Welsh Government – Easy Read direct payments for health and social care
August 2025 | Welsh Government want to know what you think.
We worked with Welsh Government to make an Easy Read version of their new consultation. It is about direct payments for health and social care in Wales.
Right now, only people who get social care from their local council can get direct payments. This consultation explains a plan to change the law, so that some people who get NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) can also get direct payments.
Direct payments are money given to you so you can organise your own care and support. This can give people more choice and control over their lives.
The consultation explains how direct payments work now and how the law might change. It says who could get direct payments under the new rules and what you can use direct payments for. It also covers a change to social care direct payments, where more people who can’t manage money, but can still make decisions, could get support.
We also made a Welsh Easy Read version of this consultation. Both versions are digitally accessible for screen readers and assistive technology users.
Your views will help shape the final rules and guidance.
