Engage to Change – Easy Read Employing people with learning disabilities and autism
April 2025 | A report about what employers thought.
We were proud to work with the Engage to Change project to create an Easy Read version of their employer feedback report.
This report shares what employers said about hiring young people with learning disabilities and autism through Engage to Change.
The Engage to Change project did excellent work helping young people with learning disabilities and autistic people find their place in the world of work.
The project supported over 1,300 young people and 800 employers using job coaches. Feedback from 277 employers showed high satisfaction, especially with timekeeping, reliability, and workplace behaviour.
The report covers what should happen next. It highlights the benefits of supported employment, including tailored support and job matching. It calls for more job coaching, training, paid placements, and support in rural areas.
It recommends that employers, schools, and the government work together to create more inclusive workplaces and long-term job opportunities.
This project made a real difference. It has now ended, but the results show just how important supported employment is for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. The right support can open doors, change lives, and help build a kinder, more inclusive world for everyone.
We also made a Welsh Easy Read version of the report. Both versions are digitally accessible for screen readers and assistive technology.
