Every day, people with a learning disability navigate a world that is full of opportunities and challenges. From taking part in daily activities to pursuing their passions, people strive to lead fulfilling lives despite the barriers they face. Some people enjoy supportive environments that nurture their talents and abilities, and promote choice, voice and control. Others have limits placed on their opportunities and what they do.
A day in my life will look at what people with a learning disability do with their time, how much choice people have, how fulfilling is it, and what people are doing to make Wales a better place for people with a learning disability to live, learn, love and work.
“After the pandemic, everything started to open, but the day service wasn’t open. Everyone was so unhappy because we wasn’t with our friends.” Sarah Griffiths, Monmouthshire People First.
“I don’t miss the day centre, I love it now. I make my own choices, I can do what I want. I’m happier.” Kirsty Harley Rhondda Cynon Taf People First.
