Behaviour and Sight Loss – 24 February 2022

Date: 24.02.2022
Location: On-line via Zoom

Supporting people with a learning disability

This is a free course.  From 10.00am – 11.00am

‘Behaviours that challenge’ are often a sign that someone’s physical, social or emotion needs are not being met.

The aim of the training is to increase awareness of the prevalence of sight loss for people with a learning disability.

The training will look at how sight loss can affect someone’s behaviour. It will look at when someone’s sight loss is recognised and the person supported, their quality of life can be improved and ‘behaviours that challenge’ reduce.

By the end of the training, delegates will be able to:

  • Be aware of the increased prevalence of sight loss for people with a learning disability.
  • Explain why sight loss can be “hidden”.
  • Describe diagnostic overshadowing and its impact for people with a learning disability.
  • Recognise how someone’s behaviour may be a sign of sight loss.
  • Know where to find resources for supporting people with sight loss and a learning disability.

This training has been developed and is delivered by RNIB.
