Free network meeting of Connections Cymru

Everyone is welcome to join the network and meeting.

2 people discuss their plan for the day using a picture based plan

Since Covid, many day services and activities for people with a learning disability have either not reopened or offer fewer hours for people who want to use them.  Many people were not asked what they thought about these changes.

People have fewer opportunities to meet their friends and take part in their communities, leaving people feeling socially isolated and lonely.

This event will be an opportunity to:

  • bring people together to learn what is happening across Wales, including Mencap Cymru’s work
  • hear personal stories
  • discuss how we can work together to make sure local authorities consult and coproduce with people with a learning disability and their families/carers on day service provision.

Speakers include:

  • The future of day services – Sara Pickard and Paul Hunt from Mencap Cymru
  • Our experiences of day services – Adam Dawkins, All Wales People First and Kirsty Harley, RCT People First
  • Local Authority perspective on day services  – Sarah Day, ADSS Cymru, Julie Annetts, Welsh Government and Jim Wright, Torfaen CBC
