In June Welsh Government published ‘A Healthier Wales: Our Plan for Health and Social Care‘ which is their response to the ‘Parliamentary Review into the Long Term Future of Health and Social Care in Wales’, which was published in February.

The plan which covers 10 years sets a framework for the delivery of a seamless whole system approach to health and social care.

The four themes of the ‘Quadruple Aim’, which was recommended by the review are:

  • improved population health and well-being
  • better quality and more accessible health and social care services
  • higher value health and social care
  • a motivated and sustainable health and social care workforce.

The plan has a commitment to look at the funding of social care and health.

The changes will begin immediately, with a £100million Transformation Fund to support the implementation of the plan. The funding will be targeted at resources to speed up the process, including the development of new integrated prevention services and activities in the community.
