This one day course will provide staff supporting adults with Down’s syndrome up-to-date and accurate information about the condition, an overview of how adults with Down’s syndrome learn (the learning profile) and provide practical tips on meeting an individual’s support needs that fit the expectations of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act.

The day will also feature sessions focused on managing health issues associated with Down’s syndrome; promoting positive mental health and strategies for improving communication.

The Social Services and Well-being Act states that all providers should provide services that meet the needs anyone who requires care and support.  This course is for social care, health and education staff who will need to understand the needs of adults with Down’s syndrome and ensure their settings and services are accessible for and meet the needs of people with Down’s syndrome.
